It Sucks....Finaly someone who says like it is....if this was the latest van dam movie people on here would be running it down saying how bad the acting was,how corny the dialogue was,how the storyline was both cliched and predictable and the main character(and come on lets face it,this is the sort of predictable rubbish custom made for van dam to play,) was one dimensional and should have been told that dark and moody with minimal verbal responses to actions around them was peaked with angel off buffy and even that got tedious in the end...

This is a predictable film with bad acting,b movie script, with a few decent fight scenes and bangin sound tracks to fool the younger audience into saying how great it is-and from the reviews on here it seems to have succeeded. I for one saw it for what it is,which is poor film made slightly better by the soundtrack.

Not at all worth watching regardless if you like martial art movies or not.
The idiot that wrote the script for this crap must have suffered from lack of oxygen at birth or downs syndrome.
Kicking the gun out of the hands of a police? and her partner comes along right after and tries to muscle all 3 egg heads instead of actually calling the assault in and asking for backup first. And after the beating, still no calling it in nor any ambulance...patching up each other in the bar, and this kinda *beep* goes on and on, jfc. This is pure and utter crap. A big *beep* YOU to all you who misleads others by giving it a 4 point higher score than it diserves.

I didn't much care for the fights either to be honest. The old man (the guy from "They Live" (which they so "discreetly" painted on a wall in the movie) was acting like he had 6 pints of beer before each punch recieved and the rest were pure universal soldiers, a knee, kick or punch to the head was quickly shruged off. Total *beep* fightscenes. Appalling actually.

However...if you want to see some good fighting scenes there are more than plenty to recommend:

"Fighter in the wind" (true story about the founder of kyokushin)
"Ong Bak" (more or less an acrobatic display like most van damme movies but done really good)
"Drunken master" (Jui kuen II (1994)) Best fighting I've seen Jackie Chan done.

could list more but the drunken state prevents me from recalling more atm :P

If you think this movie was crap, go and make a better one.

There's much more to every movie than just fight scenes. First of all, there's a script, and people kinda have to live with it, no matter how good or bad it is, and they have to make the best possible out of it.

I remember one College course when we had to work in groups creating a script and then making a short movie. It was a heck of a lot work to find something we could realistically do with the time frame and equipment we had ( mind you, schools are poor :P) but in the end, all people got good grades, since they did the best possible out of their scripts.

I do imagine it is the same in real movies, where - of course- you have superior equipment and cast, but also limited time and monetary resources to make a movie.

Also, the 'old man' you are talking about is one of the most talented wrestlers and actors of all time. He has been through a lot of *beep* but always made it back to the top. In fact, go read his biography before judging someone.

Another aspect of a movie are emotions, which have been very clear in this movie, and even the actresses did a good job and did not exaggerate with emotions.

The only thing they could have left out was the music, but then I never liked Rap & Hip Hop much, but it probably fits best for street fight scenes, ...

Ouch, I bet you wish you hadn't posted that.
First you come off sounding like you were 13 by saying:

"If you think this movie was crap, go and make a better one."
This is just too retarded to even comment on. I mean, come on...

"There's much more to every movie than just fight scenes."
Duuuuur.

"First of all, there's a script, and people kinda have to live with it, no matter how good or bad it is, and they have to make the best possible out of it."
Seriously, are you for real?

After having read up to that point the real shocker was this:
"I remember one College course when we had to work in groups creating a script and then making a short movie"...
You are obviously an adult which means you wont be able to gain any more intelligence. I'm sorry about your mental capacity but you obviously need to learn when to say something and when to keep quiet. *Hint* The latter would be appropriate in this case (and probably countles more)

"Also, the 'old man' you are talking about is one of the most talented wrestlers and actors of all time."
Oh really. Never seen him before or after "They Live", which was amusing the first time I saw it (19 years ago when I was 10). What I said was "The old man was acting like he had 6 pints of beer before each punch recieved" Which in your world translates to: He sucks so much at acting cause he behaves as if he was groggy/dizzy after every punch/kick etc recieved which would render it virtually impossible for him to actually do anything back to the attacker. You fail to see the paradox in his acting and salute him instead...muppet.
The only good actor in this move was Russel Wong and I feel sorry for him to be affiliated with this.
And JFC, how the hell does his personal history have anything to do with his appalling acting/fighting skills? It is clear he was a boxer before, that would explain acting like Muhamed Ali. He has done way too much wrestling which shows off in the movie. You do know that is fake right? Oh, santa ain't real either :(.

Go and make a better one....Hell I might be David Lynch for all you know, twat.
Keep your brainfarts to yourself in the future please.

Agreed,

I didn't expect a real plot, just some real good fighting scenes. But the plot turned out to be far worse then expected and even the fighting scenes weren't good at all. Sure it had some nice punches and kicks, but it was very predictable and the editing was just plain horrorable.
Had my hopes set for a good ending, but when i went to get a drink just before it started and saw there was only 15 minutes left i knew i had to let go of that hope, and even then it was far under my (very low) expectation. I just didn't feel anything at all during the whole movie.

I'd pick an old hot rod fight over this anytime.
