Where was Eddie Murphy's and Ravens' characters in this movie?

I watched bits and pieces of the second half of this movie and even tho I didnt think too highly of it and because of that, I have no intentions of ever watching it again, but I have some curiosity of why John and Charisse Dolittle arent in the movie.

Here's why:

John Dolittle - Away on business. He talks to Lisa over the phone about Maya going to the ranch. He is mentioned several times throughout the movie.

Charisse Dolittle - Never said where she is, but Lisa does say "Charisse is doing fine"
