Really a prehistoric movie?

The scenery, the faun looks more like a fantasy of anticipation of the planet Earth in 6 millions years at least, if not 600 millions. What do you think?

The Croods is listed as

Animation | Adventure | Comedy | Family | Fantasy
here on IMDB. It's also described as "prehistoric", but clearly that is more of prehistoric fantasy.

In Chris Sander's own words:
I really felt strongly that we should have a couple of animals that are your staples like saber tooth tiger and mammoth,” says Chris Sanders, writer and director of the film, “we were still trying to figure out what to do with the other animals. One of our artists, Shane Pregmore [sp], he came up with a really cool solution, which was to take animals and combine them, which gave a kind of a cool feel. You could almost imagine, a long time ago, animals were different combinations that maybe, as time went on, they diverged into separate things.
http://sassymamainla.com/2013/03/the-evolution-of-dreamworks-the-croods-creatures/.html I think the artists may have dreamt up more animals than made it into the film.

The flora was also fantastic. I remember reading or hearing some commentary about the landscape before, but now have forgotten the content. There's a book on the art side of the making of The Croods that looks really interesting. I loved the scenery and that initial jungle scene hit me much like the scenery from Avatar. Both movies had detailed, articulated scenery that was entirely dreamt up.
