why all this hatred?

So much hate on this board, what's the matter with you guys?

I happened to see an episode just a few minutes ago (I thought I was watching spaced because I knew there was a science fiction serie with Nick Frost called that way) and I liked it. I'm even gonna watch it again, if you don't like the humor then search another show. Whining about it won't make a difference.

Sadly, you just caught the last episode of series two but good news the dvd is out now at all good retailers.

darn it, well it'll take a while before it's available here. But I guess I'll have to wait. Is spaced out on dvd btw, I'd love to see that one too cause Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are just brilliant together.

Both Spaced special edition and Hyperdrive are on Amazon for import or If you look carefully around the web, Veoh has some of the episodes if not all of them now.

I learned of the existence of this show a few hours ago. I've watched the first two episodes. I laughed. I consider it worth watching the rest. I think this show is good. Not great, though.

Hey now, hey now now, sing this corrosion to me

why precisely is expressing a negative opinion suddenly described as hatred??
bit immature isn't it..there is no hatred involved whatsoever. If any emotion was involved then it is most likely to be disappointment

You *must* hate a series in order to post negatively on its IMDb board; disliking something strongly enough that you actually take action *against* that thing is the definition of hate.

I'm not a huge fan of BBC shows, or television comedies, or English humor, but I thought this show was good. It reminded me of Futurama, and I thought the characters were all very original.

I haven't seen Red Dwarf, though, and I'm not English, so maybe I just don't have the proper context needed to hate Hyperdrive.

reply

I think people hate it because they're expecting something else when they sit down to watch it, apparently 'Red Dwarf' usually. It's not 'Red Dwarf' and it doesn't try to be. The BBC used to be very reluctant to try to put SF comedies on TV at all because 'Come Back Mrs Noah' was such a disaster. 'Hitch-Hiker' bucked that trend and as a result we got 'Red Dwarf' (and lost 'The Goodies' BTW - 'Hitch-Hiker swallowed up their budget and they moved to ITV), but that was a bit of a fluke.

In general, this is pretty normal for British telly Sci-Fi comedy. 'Astronauts' is not known for its success and there was another one about UFOs whose name I forget.

'Hyperdrive' is 'The Navy Lark' in space. It's about the British way of doing things kind of cack-handedly and half-heartedly but still muddling through. This country is kind of moderate in all things, and it partakes of that kind of approach.
