My problem with BNTM

Is the winners;
- Lauren, surrounded by the BNP controversy.
- Alex, sppeared on the front page of Maxim and in that Yeo Valley commercial.
- Mecia, booked Ed Hardy on the show; never saw it advertised, got her magazine cover with company and the only other place I've seen her is in the argos catalogue.
- Tiffany, going to get her prize with Company, then like Mecia, will most likely fade.

It's quite embarassing; I don't know if it's because the stakes are higher on ANTM or what, but their calibre of contestants/winners is that much better.

On the plus side; Lianna did quite well for herself, appearing in numerous fashion shows and appearing on the front page of Russian Vogue. Lucy, I don't know what happened with her.

It's like the winners don't have the spark, we're meant to be finding Britain's Next Top Model; and to be honest, Series 2 was the only series coming close. Lianna, Abigail runner up- fantastic post show career, Jasmia- done very well for herself. I do think that series turned out the most modelesque girls (Tamar, Sarah, Lucy, Sophia).

The judging decisions have been mediocre in BNTM; series 3 onwards in particular; getting rid of Paula, adding Gerry to the panel, adding Louis to the panel, adding Huggy (fantastic addition but they took her off in S6) and Elle as the presenter. Given, she's a supermodel and attracted more viewers/media attention to BNTM but she was bland, it was as if everything she spoke at panel, and on the show was read from a script, very monotone. The judges bias is far too obvious aswell.

This is coming from a die-hard fan of BNTM; I do hope that the standards up in Series 7, or I'll be turning off.

Series 6 had the potential, Elle, Grace, promoted as being 'bigger and better' than ever, the advertising. But was let down by girls who shouldn't have been there and had zero modelling potential (Harleen and Delita), getting rid of Nicola too early, Charlotte coming 4th; she was the public's favourite- I'm guessing she got cut when she did because she would have won the final by a margin. And Tiffany winning, such a damp squid. The live final was mediocre at best.

Some positives:
- Jade McSorley/Abigail Clancy: Turned out the best preshow work.
- Lianna getting the cover of Russian Vogue.
- Joy booking Models 1, despite coming third.

In fairness even the winners of Americas Next Top Model never really go on to become actual top models that have big names within the industry.

Series 7 has been really disappointing like series 6:
- It looks cheap and old-fashioned (sets, editing, lighting).
- Is really slow-moving.
- They spent three! episodes interviewing/looking for 90 girls.
- Introducing the judges segment is horrendous.
- Elle is boring and too nice to the competitors.
- Grace Woodward has really bad taste. Why is she (a stylist) a judge here?
- Too many regular judges. Guest judges do not get to know the girls, they just appear suddenly to choose who is going home.
- There is no focus. Are they looking for an international top model? It does not seem like it.
- Because previous winners have mostly gone nowhere, the applying girls are not as great as they could be.
- The girls are too old. Why not lower the age-limit to 16? (Tattooed) 23-year-olds are too old to be a top model .
- The judges are eliminating really nice and beautiful girls, who take nice pictures (like Hannah) and leaving older, bitchier girls on (Tanya, Amy). If they had a photographer as a judge, s/he would tell that attitude matters.
- Why are there two regular judges who are models? Why not rather include a photographer, model agency booker, fashion magazine editor etc.?

I completely agree. I'm often shocked by the contestants and so far I feel series 8 will hold no major improvements. I LOVE Tyson as a judge though. He was great on Make Me A Supermodel US.

The wrong girls frequently stay at the expense of others. How did some even get through to the final line up? I can already tell that Madeline will go far in season 8 at the expense of better contestants because she's got the bitch edit and will be kept in to keep up the tension.

I'm glad the producers did listen to negative feedback about the pointless audition episodes last year. But does bootcamp really need to be spread over 2 episodes? No - ditch the 6 and focus on spotlighting the 14 finalists. Really spend time focussing on challenges and photoshoots, step away from focusing on drama like last season.

I maintain that the producers need to spend less time watched America's Next Top Model for ideas and instead watch seasons 3 onwards of Australia's next top model. the show is bringing out some extraordinary models, the last 2 winners have become overnight stars and Alice Burdeu (season 3 winner) had not only a major global campaign with D&G but was rated one of thr top 10 up coming models. The challenges and shoots are all relevant, the judges are great and the show is perfectly balanced between finding a model and reality TV. Plus a guest judge will have played an active role in that episode and not just appeared at the end.

Also, the UK show still looks so cheap in comparison to it's global counterparts.

I'd also go so far as saying the age limit needs to come down to 16-21. Girls are getting discovered as young as 14. A 16 year old Brit has a Louis Vuitton campaign. I would guess that it's because for some reason the UK show fixates on having a nude/topless shoot.

My instant favourites for season 8 are Emma G, Anne W and Letitia. Will be interesting to see what they produce and how far they're allowed to get.

elle is a snoozefest of a presenter. so boring, boot her out. bring back huggy, she was the best even though her lips freak me out. i love the way that none of the current judges are actually british either. makes no sense
