we're supposed to be watching war movies for school !! and i wanted to do this one but because my Pop actually fought in Kakoda im not aloud to watch it !! some thing about him fighting there really screwed him up .... so could someone please give me some details on what happens in the movie and some other Australian war movies
How old are you that you are not allowed to watch it. There are one or two gruesome scenes in it, but I would advise maybe that your parents watch the film first - decide what specifically they don't want you to see in it, and then watch it with you and just not let you watch the specific gruesome parts.
Some other great Aussie war films are; "Breaker Morant" PG(Boer War), "Gallipoli" PG, "The Light Horsemen" PG(WW1), "Blood Oath" M(Japanese War Crimes Trials - WW2) and "The Odd Angry Shot" M(Vietnam).
My Pop actually found at Kakoka too, and for that reason my parents actually encouraged me to watch the film, as my Pop would never talk about it. I never really thought that much about the war but after seeing it, I have nothing but the utmost respect for him. I think it did me a lot of good to see it.
Like the other poster said, maybe you're parents could watch it first and then decide. Or they could watch it with you. I think it's a great film.
You should also try Gallipoli.
Definitely watch Galipoli, its an excellent movie. Second choice would be The Light Horsemen.
