what ifs?

I remember reading a book here in the uk called funny enough what ifs?,there was a few volumes of the book, and in the 3rd one, they had what if japan had invaded oz,any one else read this or anything like it.
They had the large japanese army divisons winning the key areas around the costal areas, and beating back the aussie forces defending them, they pull back to conduct raids and hit and run attacks from the vast land beyond.
The japanese army is then stuck fast with the navy having to transport there supplys an awful long way,the us and allied navys then return and cut them off, thus traping the large jap army in oz,which in the end is destroyed.
Pretty good read, they had the americans losing there carriers at pearl harbour, thus giving the japanese free reign for a lot longer then they really got,but the author reckoned in the end it would have not mattered, once america had started to get into production gear, they would win.

I recommend the book "Rising Sun Victorious" with one scenario dedicated to a japanese invasion of Australia

I read many years ago in one of Gavin Long's official war histories that this was the exact scenario which IJA commanders were anticipating if they invaded Australia. According to Long, only Admiral Yamamoto was pushing the case to invade, and then only to occupy Darwin and the surrounding area. For the army, taking Port Moresby was a priority to secure their southern flank, but after that their objective was India, not Australia.
