Was when that Japanese soldier comes up behind the officer and slits his throat, and his mate turns to see it happen. It shows how these brave but inexperienced Australian troops got flanked many times and could never be sure where the Japanese soldiers were. Now imagine being in a small group of men in a jungle not knowing who was in front of you, and you hear firing behind you, and doing that time and time again as you have to keep retreating, that there is sheer horror, massive respect to these men

The Kokoda Campaign was a fighting withdrawal, not a retreat.

Yes but obviously some untis who got over run such as these had to retreat sharpish.

Australian Kokoda veterans have said the movie is very realistic in portraying jungle warfare on the Track.🐭
