Running the Sahara Solo
I can't wait to see this movie when it shows in the Uk.
In November 2009 I'm making the first ever attempt to run across the Sahara Solo:
40 Marathons in 40 days:
26 miles (a day) x 40 (days)
Details of the run: http://www.26x40.com
I can't wait to see the documentary of Lin, Engle and Zahab's amazing run.
The problem of lack of drinking water is huge, over 1 billion don't have access to clean waer, 2 million die every year! that's why my run is also supporting clean water initiatives in Africa - raising funds for One Water - to be used installing Playpumps in Africa, a brilliant way to provide clean water for a whole community.
Technically I'll be running the 'easy' route, but then not sure you can describe any Sahara crossing as easy, however compared to the 4000+mile route they ran I'm taking a short cut! The route crosses the Sahara North to South, heading into, across and then out of the Desert, a true crossing. The run is both Solo and unsuported, and entirely piste free, I can't wait to start; six weeks of running under the stars, sounds like heaven.
