Yamada

The Densha Otoko totally dragged the series down.. I know it's not meant to be serious or over-realistic, but his acting was a total turn off for me.. Hard to watch that lame face.. >:@ ...

Yes, the actor who played Yamada ruined the series. What a whiny crybaby! Even 5-year olds don't cry as often as he did.

Well we are all entitled to our own opinion but I think that it was kind of the point for him to act totally pathetic, it's not much of a break through when he confesses at the end of the series if he has the normal capacity for human interaction like any normal red blooded male. Normal people are expected to rejoice all the more for him and share in his triumph when he finally does succeed in conveying his feelings. Anyway I think he did a really good job as do most of the people who actually watched the series and enjoyed all that it was and represented. Otsu

I did expect an otaku geek to behave all pathetic and socially inept (ie. stammering, saying the wrong things, etc...) but his constant crying seemed a bit far-fetched. The guy was breaking out in tears every five minutes; not even anime characters do that. One would expect the guy to gain more confidence with every successful date but he remained the same bumbling, pitiful creature throughout--like his demeanor was encoded in his genes instead of a byproduct of his dearth of social experiences. During the protracted, painful-to-watch confession scene, I actually screamed at the television screen, "Spit it out you poor excuse of a wretched human being!!" lol. BTW, I've read the original 2chan thread in its entirety and the real Densha was nothing like this drama version. If I were the real Densha, I would've been insulted by this abortion of a portrayal.

Ugh, that scene was disgusting. Actually, I was pleased when the brother of Hermes hit that dude in the face.

I couldn't agree more. Atsushi Ito over-acted this part to the point of revulsion. His constant stammering and his seemingly never-ending fount of tears made him more sniveling and pathetic than even Peter Jackson's rendition of Gollum.

I know all about Otaku culture. I realize that Yamanda-san was not supposed to have the boisterous machismo of a Mussolini or Castro. But, that being said, Atsushi Ito really, really hammed it up in this one. I often found myself rooting for Saori's cheating ex-boyfriend, even with all his extravagant and unscrupulous schemes that fate never fails to foil in the most ironic of ways.

It might have been less annoying if he started talking normally and didn't cry so much but his character would have been boring for me if he didn't stay the same nervous wreck during the series.

Sure I was annoyed by how he was such wimp but thats why I felt MORE excitement every time he progresses with Hermes and felt so sad when things turn for the worst for him.

I wouldn't have changed anything about the series. Over acting fit this series and would have been boring otherwise.
