Early Version
Mamoru Oshii directed the Japanese anime television series "Urusei Yatsura!" (1981-1986), and I recently saw part of it at an anime convention. One of the episodes was based around what was clearly an early version of "Tachiguishi Retsuden," and was about fast-food martial arts. Specifically, fast-food martial artists come to town and begin to shut down local restaurants. Some of these characters include Hamburger Tetsuo, Frankfurter Tatsu, and a samurai-styled man who specializes in noodles. In the end his former disciple, a local girl who specializes in croquettes, beats her former master and the rest of the fast-food martial artists in a contest, thereby forcing the "grifters" to leave town and saving local restaurants.
I haven't seen Tachiguishi Retsuden yet, but I thought that this was worthwhile enough to share, and will be grabbing it as soon as it is translated for English audiences.
