Just finished it and...mehh..

Overall opinion : mehh..

I think it is aimed to affect woman more than man. The gore i see as more affective to girls, as all the nudity scenes also show how vulnerable the main characters are, especially being able to relate to them if ergo you are a girl.

And to be honest its not that much of a gore... with all the hype around it i was hoping for something that would blow my mind but it ended kinda dull..

The show did not brake my neck to send shivers down my spine but was more of a average experience better than most.

I think it really does cater to both men and women, and things we see as vulnerable to women will also appeal visually to men (the nudity while locked up/"badass killing while nude"). It reaches to more people which generates money.

As I see it... it's a sad and beautiful story with a touch of gore and violence. Too much of anything can be overkill. It's not meant to be a gore anime or thriller. The heart wrenching story of Lucy and Kouta is what it's all about with the touches of romance and gore to appeal to many people.

I really don't think it was to send shivers down anyone's spine. I think it was an anime for "the feels".

Sorry to hear that you didn't experience Elfen Lied the way I did and those that I turned onto it.

My main problem with this series is that it's basically X-Men with all the variety and actual plot removed. Seriously, those guys with crap that'd break Lucy.
