why?

why is this movie so low-rated and why has almost noone wrote in this forum or commented it? is it really that bad?Ô,ö

famous men over forty seem to be my calling.

reply

I agree, I didn't really think it was too bad, considering that it was almost certainly a straight-to-video (or DVD) film. There were a few funny bits in it that adults could appreciate too.

reply

I personally thought it was awful.... crap animation, crap plot, crap acting... it was just bad. But I guess a little kid wouldn't mind all that. Still though...

reply

Maybe it's because many people do not appreciate Barbie?

reply

I wouldn't say it's 'Barbie' that's the problem...

reply

hehe, the acting?^^ how can actors of an animated piece be awful?
the reason why i'm wondering is because i really like the other barbie-movies that have been released. so... is this worse than the rest? i'm thinking of buying it=) i already own the first three ones.

reply

It's called voice-acting...

Anyways if you like the other ones you'll like this one I guess. Personally I hate pretty much all these CGI Barbie movies I've seen so far.

reply

No way! This movie was really good.
I love Mark Hildreth's voice for Aiden. Granted, I enjoyed The Princess And The Pauper better, but I certainly wouldn't write-off this movie for any reason.
I thought Shiver, the polar bear, was really cute and how they constructed the wand of...light?...I think, was truly clever.
I, personally, loved the actors chosen for the voices. I thought the computer animation was incredible: Aiden's character movements along with his witty remarks were dead-on with a real person. (coming to mind is "Let me guess...your cousin?")
The outtakes were really good, too.

P.S. I do wish I knew the name of the little Kelly-like girl who I think painted her part of the sky yellow/orange - not Chantal Strand's character and not the little girl who fell asleep. That girl had a very nice sounding voice.

I'm 16 and I love this movie!! Well, I love all of the Barbie movies, and I own most of them too.

Maybe because to SOME people, "it keeps the kids shut up!" is not an acceptable criterion for a film. Really, it baffles me why this should be more or equally as deserving of praise as The Backyardigans, for example.

There's exactly one potentially good thing about these Barbie films: it's a way for kids to listen to good classical music (my older niece recognised Beethoven's 6th symphony because of one of those films), but on the other hand, kids might inevitable associate classical music to garbage like this. That's why it's only potentially good: it's potentially BAD, too.
