Aubsolutely no purpose to it. We didn't get to see the reactions, there is no chance for revenge in the future... Just randomly 'Hey, lets kill a main character in the last minute of the show!' The worst ending I've ever seen in a movie.
I think they must have been hoping for a sequal, but this movie didn't go over well enough.

shareThe other reason(s) it was poor is that Trivette & Nia Peebles was not in it. Trivette had about 5 minutes screen time total.
shareOnly thing I can think of to explain the ending is if Wilson was difficult to get signed on for this, although I wouldn't know why it's not like her career skyrocketed after Walker, so they tacked on this ending to give the producers more leverage with sequels. Since there was never a follow up it makes a pretty poor ending.

We don't know she died, she was just shot a hella lot! Still, it's been 10 years so I doubt we'll ever know!
