GREEN DAY IS NOT BRITISH!

When Taj was giving his speech using songs from British artists he references Green Day twice. GREEN DAY IS NOT BRITISH! They're from California. Just cause Billie's singing voice sounds vaguely British doesn't make them British.

greenday ARE not british....

*rolls eyes*

reply

lol, I would say IS because when you talk about Green Day you talk about A band as in one band, one whole, and not several people. The members aren't Green Day by themselves but only as a group

Candy doesn't have to have a point. That's why it's candy

reply

I would say ARE because thats proper English

reply

Well if you want proper English try using periods haha...i swear some people...

reply

You would say that but you would be wrong

reply

oh dear..

reply

the band green day is a collection of people not a thing.. there for it would be are.. not is .. but its ok, what deos it matter

reply

The musical group (ie; band) known as Green day is not an English rock band. Therefore, the members of said band are also not English. One band, many people. The above poster is incorrect as, for example; a pride of lions is a singular group of many entities. If you're referring to the Pride, you would use is, but if you're referring to the lions in that Pride, it would be correct to use are.

reply

And I would say "that is" because THAT IS proper English.

however, busting someone's balls about proper english on a damn internet forum is ridiculous - seriously, why??

reply

he started quoting a few american bands near the end of the speech so i don't see the big deal.

reply

That's true. He deviates from British bands a few times. Cheap Trick is from Illinois, for example.

reply

plus, green day is predominantly loved by the british. so i think it's acceptable.

reply

If you want you guys could take credit for Green Day. God knows we don't want to. Or better yet, lets just blame Canada!
