No way would young beauty Sienna Miller fancy old guy Buscemi

I've seen clips from this movie, and it looks trash. I KNOW women - and there's no way a beauty like Sienna Miller would ever date, have sex, or even see some old guy Steve Buscemi.

I am not saying it isn't well acted but it would have been better if the leading lady was closer to Buscemi's age.

It entails a close relationship which leads to sex. My point being, and I reiterate, the leading lady wouldn't even consider getting close the old guy.

It just wouldn't happen. It's like that bag of trash Lost In Translation. What beautiful young woman aged 18 would fancy an old bloke nearly 60?

It's ridiculous...all these daft movies are probably the fantasies of old guys. It just wouldn't happen.

He Spotlight, have you ever heard of Flavio Briatore?
check for instance how he's is doing with the lady's before making these assumptions. And go see the movie.

reply

i'm only 20 but i was attracted to buscemi in this. and bill murray in lost in translation. i also like alan rickman who is around 60. it's entirely possible for a young woman to like a man of that age

reply

Do what NonSequitur suggests and watch the bloody film before you make assumptions, spotlightne. Or perhaps, if that's too much effort for you, just read the one-line plot synopsis which should be enough to make you realise that you have no idea what you're talking about. What part of "is forced to interview" do you think translates as "a close relationship"? And regardless of whether or not you know what the film is about, what makes you think that sex (or indeed a close relationship) is purely based on physical attraction? And on that point, what makes you think that physical attraction is purely based on two people being of a similar age?

(On a side note, think of Jack Nicholson, Sean Connery, Alan Rickman, Robert Redford: all older men who are widely considered to be extremely attractive to women of all ages)

Incidentally, Lost in Translation is not about sex. It's about an understanding and a connection between two people, which has nothing to do with age or physical appearance. If you can't understand that, it explains why you wouldn't appreciate the subtler, finer points of movies such as these.

(That's not to say that Interview is particularly subtle . . . but that's another discussion).

has the OP never been outside?

As a rule, men like younger women and women like younger men.

Men like a pretty young girl who is free and happy and Women like a man that has security, intelligence and charm.

reply

"...bag of trash Lost In Translation."

you're entitled to your opinion and i'm not even arguing the premise of your post, but i have to say i find this statement ridiculous.

reply

maybe i'm not a beauty, i don't know, but i'm 24 and i think he's a good looking man - every woman is different

reply

so you "KNOW" women? clearly you don't... I can tell you for a fact that women of all ages date old men and uggos. As previous posters have pointed out the point of the OP has nothing to do with the movie, but I thought I'd just add that there are lots of hot chicks who dig Buscemi and would love to date/sex him and what not

reply

Agree completely. They had no chemistry and it was totally unclear what she found attractive about him. He had a nasty personality and gross face and body.

reply

Wasn't the point that they had no chemistry? They weren't supposed to click.

When he asked her "are you good at seducing men?" I think she answered him rather nicely.

reply

You haven't seen the movie, but if you had you'd know that

****Spoiler****

Sienna's character is playing Buscemi's all the time.

Sienna Miller is hardly a beauty. That was just one annoying aspect of this movie..everyone telling her she was beautiful. She's barely cute. She has a totally bland forgetable face. Nothing special at all.

reply

Oh, and Sienna's American accent sucked. Hard.

reply

Sadly, many less-than-attractive men manage to be successful with women through personality alone, yet for women it is difficult or impossible to do the same. It's a fact of life.

reply

Show business is tough to break into and even more difficult to stay on top. Mariah Carey was a total unknown when the head of the record company married her and made her a star. He was old enough to be her father. Most of these relationships end.

The only successful one I can think of was Sophia Loren who stayed married to Carlo Ponti. Even after leading men like Cary Grant etc threw themselves at her. Ponti was short heavy and not attractive but she has always said he was the love of her life and apparently a good man.

Buscemi didn't own a studio or network but was he was in a position to give her a career a boost or a kick in the face with his article for a major news organization.

reply

gotta agree with the poster that said miller has a bland, forgettable face. i feel the same; you'd never look twice if she passed you on the street. and being nothing exceptional in terms of acting, it's likely she has elected to suck middle-age and old producer d*ck more than once to get where she is. i'm a 23 yr old female, and i think buscemi's hot, but i can agree it's an uncommon reaction.

also, she wasn't interested in him in this movie, she was playing mind games and won.

reply

i think sienna's acting is brilliant. just because she's good looking, many people are ready to diss her acting right away.
grampalop, it's extremely judgmental for you to assume she has gotten where she is by doing the things you said.
