Anything silmilar to this?

I loved this film, as have not yet seen the original (although I will eventually), but does anyone know of similar films? Films in which the character interactions carry the film. With an original plot.

The Sisters is a great character driven movie. It stars Elizabeth Banks, Maria Bello and a host of other actors that I can't remember... It's another movie based on a play so the majority of the movie takes place in one setting. The dialogue is great, very witty and at times biting!A definite must see if you loved Interview!

If you enjoyed this, you'd certainly love Tape (2001) starring Ethan Hawke & Uma Thurman which is another indie movie which has a theatrical feel and only uses 3 characters in a motel room. Although it starts slow you'll be gripped with suspense as the story unwinds as it's all dialogue driven with great performances.

Actually watching Interview reminded me a lot of Tape. They make great companion pieces.

But ultimately the best film in this style is Sleuth (1972) with Laurence Olivier & Michael Caine in a tremendous battle of wits.

Both are excellent.

'The Dinner Game' is a great one as well

Had just replied in the similar thread in the Sleuth (1972) board and recommended Interview. I too find them very similar in many ways.

Thank you for reminding me to watch Tape, been meaning to do it for years.

I also really like this film. Steve Buscemi is great.
If you loved this one, you should also watch "The Man From Earth", which really was overwhelming to me.

reply

wow, thanks a lot ppl. "The Man From Earth" is quite interesting. It has a very original and intelligent concept. Also, I will see "Tape" ASAP. I love Linklater, and I don't know why I haven't seen that film earlier.

P.S. have any of you seen the original "Interview"? Is it worth picking up? This version I actually came across at my local library (lucky me, eh?). I'm just curious if the original is a film someone would watch over again (i'm asking because the only place I can find it is on a dutch website to order, and I usually rent films :)

I think when a director and writer get the interactions between the characters to be fascinating (like in this film), it can be better than anything a film has to offer.

I highly recommed also "Man From Earth". It really was overwhelming! In my opinion, everybody should watch "Man From Earth". Example it should be shown in schools! When i watched it, i knew nothing about it. After finishing it i was just...wow...It was so suprising! It was great!!

Hard Candy would be the most obvious choice if you like movies like this one, in my opinion it is a LOT better and has a lot more tension. But it resembles this movie perfectly, with interesting revelations just shown through the interaction between the two main characters in the movie.

Also The Man From earth might be worth watching, it's more indiependant but it has a similiar style and is driven through dialogue. It's a lot about philosophy and science though, which Interview is obviously not.

What happened was... Is what it reminded Interview reminded me of.

Also, both films take place at the female lead's apartment for the entire movie.

Conversations with Other Women. I haven't seen Interview, but this movie pretty much only has two characters, played by Aaron Eckhart and Helena Bonham Carter.
