The guy really just wanted to get back home. He wasn't concerned with revenge, he just wanted to do anything possible to get back home. You can argue that Clay wasn't thinking clearly, he couldn't let go of being a soldier and avenging all the kids from the beginning.

shareI was hoping that it was just a ploy to get Roque close enough to Max that he could take him out. Partly because Idris Elba is a fantastic actor and I really wanted his character to stay as one of the good guys, kinda like Dolph Lundgren in the first Expendables. Was disappointed, but then again, a bit surprised as well. That doesn't happen too often in movies these days.
shareI agree. Clay was the bad guy to me, not Roque. Clay just kept screwing over his team again and again. The fact that it turned out relatively well for his team didn't changed that.
