could have been cute...

if Abby had any true charme and Ira a real problem with himself.
I didn't expect much from this film - the story itself is predictable and won't surprise. Yet I found it kind of shocking how an okay-mediocre romcom-script can be made into such an empty movie which lacks any true emotions. I didn't buy the love between Ira and Abby for a second. I found Abby painful to watch: pretending to be a sweet girl though she missed all what makes a girl sweet. Reese Witherspoon could have given life to this kind of character, but Jennifer stays only surface and without heart (and her physical appearance - there is something mean in her face - doesn't exacactly help.) The same for Ira: his background as child of two analysts is meant to give depth to his character, but unfortunately he's not Woody Allen...
