dharma and greg: the movie?

i just watched the trialer for this, and does it seem to anyone else that this is entirely based on dharma and greg? look:

1. two people barely know each other, and they get married
2. girl = quirky, guy = straight-laced
3. girl's parents = kooky/fun, guy's parents = drunks/unhappy

maybe it's different in the movie. i dunno. anyone else see the similarities?

Almost everything in Hollywood or TV these days is based on something else, usually older, better, and successful. You don't want to do a barely disguised
sequel on a flop. There is no originality left in films anymore, just CGI.

I understand why you would see similarities because of the neurotic leads. Also similar to Along came Polly but it's different. It's a fun little film. Very New York, fun, spontaneous, about love and romance, with great supporting characters too

I am about half-way through the movie now, and was thinking the same thing. That show would have been fantastic if it had this cast and writing. Definitely give it a try. It's on Netflix right now.
