Was Neville caught by his own trap??

it's an interesting thought. IMO the movie was trying to tell you the infected set the trap, especially with them waiting nearby with zombie dogs as the sun went down.

Well since the movie has 2 endings it's a bit complicated.

The darkseekers did make the trap, not Neville. But since the theatrical ending sort of wrecked the whole story and point of the movie you could say it might have been Neville's own trap (with that horrible ending).

The real story (the book) and the real ending of the movie clearly show you that the darkseekers in fact made the trap. They were intelligent, emotional beings.

The whole point of the movie (well at least the book) is that Neville is the bad guy. He captures them, kills them and studies on them and that's the only reason they are after him.

I actually never thought of Neville setting it himself. What you say makes sense though... I mean, hell, if the darkseekers are smart enough to trap him, aren't they smart enough to shoot him from a dark window when he's goofing around in the streets?

i allways assumed neville did set the trap himself but the darkseekers put fred there, but i never read the book though

Funny, I have always thought since this movie came out that it was Neville who set the trap and that in his ever-increasing loss of connection with reality, he forgot about that particular trap.

Last night while watching with my girlfriend, who has never seen it, she asked if it was the infected that set the trap and it occurred I had never even considered that possibility!

So hear I am wondering the same thing :)

Theres actually a deleted scene on the DVD / Blu Ray collectors edition that shows Nevil returning to the trap and figuring out that the creatures had set it.
