.Can someone explain how this movie cost $25,000,000>? They basically used one location, an already built house. No effects-(not obvious anyway)

.Talking of effects-they surely could have superimposed hands that actually WERE playing real chords on the guitar. It was painfully obvious that Steve Carell couldn't really play guitar....

You have to pay the actors. Often the crew likes to be paid too. Doesn't that also include marketing? It's a pretty low budget for a wide release movie.
