Season of the Witch (2011) or Solomon Kane (2009)?

Both films are set around the same medievil time period & both revolve around witchcraft/spiritual realm with a main protagonist who has done evil deeds but has changed his ways or is trying to at least. I preferred Solomon Kane only because the ending in that wasn't abysmally rushed & the demons were so much cooler though with that said it's hard to hate Nic Cage's performance in this one compared with that of James Purefoy in Solomon Kane. Can anyone else give their thoughts of the two movies & which one they preferred?

Wait. What? You thought Nic was good in this? =)
I'm the first to admit that Cage have it in him to make awesome performances(Leaving Las Vegas, Adaptation etc etc) but he has it also in him to make some unintentionally hilariously bad as well(Vampire's kiss, Wickerman etc). In this he was closer to the latter...
I didn't hate this movie, it was watchable, but I thought Salomon Kane was better(not by much though), even Purefoy.

Although I think a better comparison to this movie would be Black Death, it's pretty much the same story(knights go to village to find witch who's behind the plague etc).

well there is no blood, no real action or any sort of suspense in this movie...
nicolas cage looks like he has been stuffed with corn and stuck in the microwave....

the hangings were cool though.... and the bodies with the plague...
solomon kane had a better story, had some blood, an awesome soul collector and darker atmosphere.... although it had its snags its way better than this BS....

I enjoyed both Season of the Witch and Solomon Kane, but I think Kane is the better film.

In addition to the aforementioned Black Death, another similar movie is Dark Relic (2010), in which disillusioned Crusader knights are pursued by supernatural forces while travelling to Europe from the Holy Land. Like the heroes in Season of the Witch, the knights in Dark Relic are (1.) attacked by ravenous wolves, (2.) ambushed inside a monastery by possessed zombie monks who crawl across the ceiling, and (3.) confronted at the movie's climax by a winged, horned demon.

In addition to the films mentioned above, The Asylum are producing a movie called Dragon Crusaders, in which a band of Crusader knights battle against supernatural forces.

I prefer Solomon Kane to this. I wouldn't say I enjoyed that movie immensely but at least SK managed to keep my attention for the entire duration. Another thing that bothered me was the lighting. This movie was terrible. Now, maybe it was only my copy of the DVD but it was so dark I could hardly see what was happening.

Solomon Kane. It's not even a hard question for me.

Season of the Witch every time.

Even though Solomon Kane was a good movie Season gets my vote.

Not much in it. Both start out with a promisingly dark setting and end up ending with ridiculous CGI action scenes...although SK's CGI was worse. SotW has far more cheese, though; that whole hohoho you're buying the drinks tonight cliched crapola, and that ending voice over, blergh.
