Needed Sam Raimi, John Carpenter or Robert Rodriguez to do it justice

This is normally the kind of film I like, I bought DVDs of the Conan movies, Red Sonja, Ladyhawke, Beastmaster, and the 13th Warrior. , and while some of these are not classics, they are still entertaining and bear multiple viewings.

I will not be buying this movie, as it was painful enough the first time around.

Surely it could have been saved by better scripting and direction by a more experienced director.

Some semblance of European medieval accents would have helped too, quite why they bother with quite high production values, but let it down with poor scripting and characterisation is a constant puzzlement to me.
