Principle Photography Completed

from LDSFILM.com, October 9, 2005:
"Principle photography on “Passage to Zarahemla” is completed, except for some second unit that will take us to Costa Rica in November. Special effects are the largest single expense in the budget, possibly as high as one fifth of the entire budget. The dailies look spectacular on this thing. Some of the most talented people in Utah film were involved in this production, from costumes to props to production design. So many people jumped on for much less than their normal rate, just out of a belief in the script and a desire to be involved. I firmly believe we will soon deliver something very special."

They mention everything but the actors. Please tell me that they hired some people that actually know how to act and not somebody from the LDS community because they work cheap. Special effects are great but if the acting stinks so will the film. I hope they put out the money and got some real actors.

What they need to do, and HEAR ME THIS, MOVIEMAKERS, is make sure people don't confuse this with The Book of Mormon Movie II. I sure did at first.

Did you not review any of your "principle photography? Colin? Didn't you see the GREEN boom mic fall into the scene? More than once. Didn't you notice that you were cutting out the top of the scene with some black object?

I recommend that you change your qualifier for "talented". It isn't the people working on this film. It stunk. Awful. Just awful. (Costumes for one - and by that I mean the main character's outfits. She dressed like she would have dressed badly 5 years ago.)

The script is bad too. At no time in this movie did it come close to touching reality. I don't mean the time-space travel. That's fiction to make the story. I mean the fiction that two kids could escape California in a stolen vehicle and that law enforcement would never visit Leads because the aunt sounded confused on the phone. Or an "LA gang" that acts like guys from Utah trying to act like what they think might be a gang.

This was a terrible movie. And that's a generous rating.

What exactly is "principle photography"...? Is it photography that centers on "The Principle" which in Mormon-speak is polygamy ?

Oh Lord, you gave them eyes but they cannot see...

Wow, that post was hilarious. And not in the way you intended it to be. Congrats.
