didn't anyone tell the Director and Casting Director that Ed Burns sucks

Are they crazy for hiring this guy?

He can not act.
His voice is annoying.
There are a ton of people who avoid any film he appears in.

They screwed up. Hopefully no one else will make the same mistake in the future.
