What do these parents 'want' their kids back for??

If they are so irritated by their kids and they make them so angry AND all they're going to do is lose their patience and hit them....what do they want them for?!

Why not just let social services adopt them? Why go through all that to get them back, if you're just going to lose your patience again?

"Didn't he discover America?"
"Penfold, shush."

These parents have big egos. To give up their children to authorities would be an admittance to their failure of parenting. They don't want to admit their faults or let anyone else have them. It is more about control and ownership, than the love of their children.

Exactly. They say most of these child abusers and wife abusers are big narcissists. That is why when you hear about them wiping out their whole family it is because they usually failed at something and they do not believe the family could live without them. So they kill them because to them they will be better off dead. They actually think they are doing them a favor. They feel these kids or their family is a direct reflection of them so if the children are taken away they are worried about how they are perceived not with the child's well being. It never works out because they will always blame the children or wife for them looking bad, even for the littlest of things so they take it out on them. People talk about Jacob's mom. She might as been as scared of the father as the kid was but because she was a adult she had better coping abilities. When the cops came it looked like she might be their best witness.
