This movie is SO BAD

This is really the worst movie I've seen i quite a while. The story doesn't make sense at all, the acting is horrible, there are plotholes everywhere, and so on.

I've been sitting here with a frown on my face for the last hour watching this movie, thinking: WHAT THE ****?

Seriously, every time some actors from a popular series are cast for a movie, it turns out to be complete rubbish. Bleh.

Not the worst movie though the story doesn't make any sense! But it's really bad!

I agree. Awfull. I mean you have story that builds itself for the most of the movie, and when you expect nice logical ending that wraps it they pull the (SPOILERS!!!) some crapy "she is insane" conclusion. Waste of time.

Flourish

By Ed Hulse 10/30/2006 @ Video Business DVD Reviews

"A reasonably clever mystery/ comedy hybrid that echoes Martin Scorsese's After Hours, Flourish has an Alice in Wonderland vibe that keeps it amusing even when innumerable plot complications and bizarre characters threaten to send it spiraling into incoherence. Gaby's odyssey brings her in contact with an unlikely spy, an exploited fiancée, a philandering military man, his pious mistress and other oddballs. At the finish, several questions remain unanswered, but that hardly matters. This neatly turned out indie is one of those films that isn't about the destination but the journey. With a sharper script and a little more directorial discipline, this easily could have been a major mainstream movie. Though worth seeing, the absence of exploitable cast names will hinder the film's rental prospects."

I don't think they pulled the "insane" card or came up with an easy ending, a la Idenity. This girl has Korsakoff's syndrome, where people fabricate memories when they can't immediately pull a real one up. Sorry, I'm a med student so I found this very fascinating! You can look up the syndrome if you want. It's super interesting to learn about...or, maybe that's just me. :)

Anyway, I thought they did a great job of keeping things from a strict point of view (ie, Gaby's). All of the "plot holes" I think you guys are talking about can be explained by the fact that she wasn't physically there for a lot of the movie, yet is recounting all these details like she was. Plus, whenever we all tell stories, little details get made up to create a more complete narrative.

I thought it was a good exercise in POV and storytelling.

Actually, she completed this movie BEFORE she was hired on House.

It was made between season one and two of House.

No actually Flourish was made on hiatus between seasons 1 and 2 of House. I personally liked this movie for an indie film. If you really paid attention you could understand the plot, it may have been a bit too complicated but not that hard to figure out. The ending was a great twist, you would have never thought about how Gabby was filling in the details when she wasn't there. I'm a HUGE fan of House and I'll admit the only reason I saw this was because of Jennifer Morrison and Jesse Spencer but I'm really glad I did. I'm not saying that it compares to a Hollywood film but for indie you have to give it props.

What causes a grown man to drool? Chase, were you wearing your short shorts?
