Billy

Is Billy Mitchell as big of a douche in this as he is in KoK?

reply

I've got to imagine that sort of mulletude wouldn't dim from movie to movie. So, even without seeing the movie, I'd have to say yes - he's as big of a douche.

I didn't think he came off too bad in this one. Sure, he had a couple of "worship me"-type of silly quotes, but he also confirmed of pressures and how decent other players were with their records as well.

A good documentary all around, but as others have said, the whole thing has kind of a sad vibe to it...days gone by of the great years of the arcade that will never return :(

I think much of the "character" of Billy Mitchell in KoK was an attempt to create a good guy vs bad guy film. Billy does seem to have the emotion centre of his brain removed though, I never saw him smile or anything in either movies. He came across as more of a robot than a douchebag to me.

Actually, if I had never seen King of Kong and only saw this, I woulnd't think poorly of him. He just seemed like a normal guy in this, besides his hair and attire.

all he needs is the black cowboy hat, and that will be it!
LOL

No, because this film is about allot of people. It's not a film about "This Billy guy is a Douch" which is pretty much all KoK was. In KoK Billy was the Bad Guy. In this movie there is no bad guy. No good vs. Evil themed plot here. But, he still comes off as himself, which is a big douche.

Very well put.

Well, perhaps he is a douche, but seeing how his kids seem to adore him, he couldn't be all bad. There was one scene where his daughter comes running up to him all excited like most daughters will when they see their dad. That, to me, indicates he's got at least some modicum of humanity.

reply

He has convinced her he's a rockstar. That's why she digs him.

Sad story. You got a smoke?

He is a big douche in "Chasing Ghosts" but I think he upped the doucheness for "King of Kong". He showed he was *beep* in KOK because he wouldn't play Steve Wiebe live one on one.
