Loved it

I often hear people call it an inferior version of King of Kong. I disagree with that sentiment. The King of Kong can't really be compared even though it features many of the same people and is about arcade games. This had no protagonist, certainly no antagonist, and almost everyone herein got proper screen time. This documentary, having no tangible plot or a goal (unless you count the reunion shot), focused much more on the love for games and almost exclusively featured a bunch of aging guys reminiscing of a time they really burned for something, and in part about how that flame faded (or was taken away from them). It's about people whose biggest accomplishments are highscores, and how irrelevant they are becoming. Some are still proud, some still interested, but others miserable and somewhat regretful.

I wasn't around during the arcade era, nor was I in the right place (though I have been playing many of these games through other means since half-my-life ago), but it still did a terrific job in conveying nostalgia. It's an empathic thing, I guess, and job well done.

Anyway, I found this at least equally touching, if sad. No manufactured bad guy is always a plus.
