Not bad
I thought Ray Winstone gave a pretty good performance in this, but I think the whole production was a bit limited.
The story used a lot of artistic licence, but even that couldn't save it from essentially being a gorefest. The "deep" parts were dull, and the death parts were much of a muchness.
But I guess there isn't much of a story around a barber who killed people. I think this film tried to trade off the myth surrounding Sweeney Todd, but when you get down to the nuts and bolts there isn't really that much to tell. A bloke killed a lot of people in his shop and ended up taken to the gallows. That's it.
Worth watching if you're a Winstone fan, but I wouldn't see it again.
