Amazing Bollywood! Master class storytelling

After literally being smothered by pm's from an Indian friend of mine, I chose to watch this film and I was not disappointed. This is truly a magnificent film, one of the best ever made in India. Haasan is truly an incredible film writer, especially on scientific and religious stories. Most of the roles he plays in this film are very typical of extreme hard work thats associated with scholars. This is the third Haasan film I am watching and I am happy for bollywood's progression into intelligent cinema albeit the prosthetics and the graphics used. Films that show too much of dancing and running around trees thats typical with bollywood make me sick and tired and in a way I choose the cast before I usually decide to watch a bollywood movie. Haasan is blessed with fans who repeatedly recommend his movies and I do not regret having seen these little beauties.

Lol.... "Dancing and running around trees!!!" What better way to describe bollywood eh! Folks round here love those dances and songs. There's nothing wrong with giving it to them, but, very few films, like dasa, gives it in a palpable manner in which it blends perfectly with the story in a narrative manner.

This movie is not Bollywood .Its KOLLYWOOD . I dont know why people think every movie in India has to be from Bollywood .Kollywood makes better movies

Not many people outside India know that there exists a film industry called Kollywood (infact, the largest film industry in the world in terms of number of films produced). Indian films = Bollywood for them thanks to bollywood production houses which spend enormous amount of money marketing bollywood films outside India than inside. As a result, good quality regional films, like some amazing bengali, malayalam and in this case, tamil films fall under the same banner thereby getting diluted among the rest of the cliched acts. But one can't ignore the fact that tamil as a language and as a sub-sect in Indian culture is being recognized (I've been asked "hindi or tamil?" in a bar in small village in Scotland called Fort williams), even though kollywood has not done any noticeable marketing work like bollywood which does all sorts of gimmicks abroad from conducting film festivals (like the IIFA!!! either its Indian or International! I watched the whole show and there is nothing "international" about it except that they all speak in English about Hindi films intended for Hindi speaking audience!!!), or conducting gala screenings abroad.

Kollywood is a ridiculous name, and so is Bollywood. If anything, I find names like these incredibly degrading for the local film industries, because it just makes them sound like Hollywood-wannabes, which they certainly are not. Let's just stick to calling them by their proper names, like Hindi cinema, Bengali cinema, Tamil cinema, Malayalam cinema, etc. In this particular case, Dasavatharam is a Tamil film.

"WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM???!!!!!"

Hey Joe, Kamalhasan is a class act. He is the unsung legend of Indian cinema. You should check out his awards and wonder, why he's called so - 'Unsung Legend'. That's because he deserves a lot more credit and world-wide visibility. Anyway, check out Abhay (Hindi version of Alavandhan - tamil film). It's another highly creative film but then there were many who didn't love it. I loved it, maybe you should check it out.

And then again, dont forget to check out his next venture - 'Marmayogi' (loosely translated as "strange sage" ,not sure of the bollywood name) and then his next film 'Marudhunayagam' - Its a story about a Converted Muslim rebel leader. It's gonna rock the world i bet on it!

Bollywood is a pure crap cinema name. Tamil people never say KOLLYWOOD, its just for people to see the difftent between the hindi and tamil films. I really hate both names, its better just to say the tamil film industry or something. WE DONT WANT TO HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH BOLLYWOOOD, thats pure crap cinema with just copycats.

Hey guys stop this North Indian-South Indian crap...aren't our politicians enough to do this...the simple thing is ...yes Sounth Indian movies(Tamil, Telgu, Malyalam etc) are high on content(as many that I've watched)but most of the times they are very loud to North Indian viewership...not every time but most of the time, on the other hand Bollywood movies might be low in content but their presentation is good which may not be liked by South Indians...
Both sides have prejudice against each other and that has to be changed...I'm a North Indian from Delhi but I respect every kind of language, people and cinema...also I'm a big fan of Kamal Hasan ...truly magnificent personality.

Please keep your discussions limited to films not race or language.

It's just a matter of digestion ....
