DVD Release?

This is one of the very few non comedy programmes on TV that I would definitely go out and buy on DVD. All we ever get in this country (UK) is reality TV *beep* like 'big brother' (and the 4 shows that accompany it daily!). It was so good to watch a well written brilliantly acted series without the need for celebrity's or ludicrous soap-esque plots.

DVD with loads of extra's particularly cast interviews please. I guarantee at least one sale :-)

I've e-mailed Channel 4 to ask about this but I'm still waiting for a reply, I would definitely buy it as well. this was one of the best programmes of the year and Elaine Cassidy is an outstanding actress!

A DVD with loads of extras would be very much appreciated!

reply

I really do hope this gets a dvd release.

I missed it first time round as it was on when i was at work, but ive been watching the twice weekly late night repeats and have really got into it.

Elaine Cassidy is really good in it and I have to say, she is one of the cutest women I've ever seen and a great actress to boot. Make that 3 copies!

If you go to elainecassidy.net and search through the forums there are details on how to see all 7 episodes.

reply

Sorry to disappoint people, but I e-mailed Channel 4 about this a while ago and they said "no plans for a second series, or to bring it out on DVD". Fools!
I'm sure they'd change their minds if they got enough e-mails though.... hehe. Not sure Jonas Armstrong will be back though anyway, now he's got the Robin Hood gig on the BBC.

For your information, a DVD release is planned in France on January, 10, 2007:

Language includes English audio.
You just need a region 2 or region 0 DVD player.

The item should appear soon on www.amazon.fr

hope this helps if you can not wait

reply

From what I've heard, a DVD of this series will be coming out on 19 February 2007. It will be done by Network.

reply

Actually, I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think they will be releasing this on DVD. I think Network may release another series called Ghost Squad (without the 'The') which was made in the '50s or '60s. I could be wrong, though.

reply

Afraid you're right.

It's a 1960s ITC police drama with Donald Wolfit. Hasn't been seen in years, apparently.

reply

Yes, it's available on www.amazon.fr and I've ordered it. Can't wait.

reply

How can I buy this cause I live in the States???

"I do believe I will be with 1 person for the rest of my life...but that person will be a woman."

reply

The only way to currently buy it is through France. I'd suggest using an alternative site to amazon.fr though, because their shipping prices aren't wonderful. However, before you buy, I'd also suggest looking into how you're going to play it, because DVD players sold in retail stores here are region 1 players, not region 2. Personally, I reset my computer DVD player to play region 2, but there are ways to either buy region free players, or set ones you currently have to region 0.

reply

Well it looks fairly hopeless, judging by the numbers, but you can vote here: http://tvshowsondvd.com
to try and get the show moved up on the list for consideration of being released. It is free to register and I suppose if anyone is on another board that would be interested you could urge them there too, or any fan sites.

I can get used to being an action hero!

I loved this show & was gutted when it was cancelled. does anyone know if they plan to release it on DVD in the UK?

Wait a minute, Doc. Ah... Are you telling me you built a time machine... out of a DeLorean?

reply

I dont think that this was cancelled, it was made for UK TV and (thanks for this small mercy) the PTB, as yet, dont kill off stuff that is going out. Also they are able to make a smaller run of things that dont 'need' a 13 week (or more) run of shows.

I for one sometimes like the shorter run, or mini series that I think others would understand better, some things dont need to be dragged out over many weeks/years.
