Why Only when your alseep?

It seems that everything that happens to alot of the people on this show seems to happen when they are asleep or in bed. I gives me the feeling that most of the "encounters" can be exlpained away as "Nightmres" or just "Bad Dreams".

I have no doubt alot of people believe what they are saying, and others are just letting thier imagination run away with them. Most of the people confess that it was "Like a Movie", or "Stories I've heard". Which makes me find fault with alot of the stories they tell.

reply

Not all of them happen when they are in bed in fact most of them don't. When they say it's like a movie or stories they have heard why does that make you find fault? Ghost stories have existed forever because people have had the experience of seeing ghosts forever. It's no surprise that if you saw a ghost it would be like other ghost stories.

reply

I agree, too often these stories are told from a drowsy perspective.

reply

I agree with yango. Not all stories are around bedtime, and so what if they were? If ure seeing the same stuff during the day or night maybe it's true perception not drowsy influence.

I've seen three ghosts and they were very real.

Not only were they "there," but I could feel a presence as though someone were in the area with me. In one of the cases, the ghost affected material objects in the room, as well, but not in a threatening way.

None of these encounters were at night or when I was asleep or anywhere near a bed, even, but I WAS sort of zoned out, distracted, and maybe a little tired when it happened.

I think you may be more perceptive when you're a little sleepy and/or not paying attention fully.

That said, I'm skeptical about some of the stories presented on this show. I wish it weren't almost always so "demonic" or sinister, because the ghosts I've encountered weren't sinister *I was a little freaked out nonetheless).

I don't know what ghosts really are, but having seen them, I have to believe in them. I also believe that a lot of people just scare the crap out of themselves and pin it on a ghost.

My encounters weren't scary, but I don't want to see another ghost, so I'm sort of hyper-aware now when I get that creepy feeling, and I just put it out there that "I don't want to see you."

And I haven't.

I am a paranormal investigator and I can tell you they don't always happen when you're asleep, as mentioned before, very rarily do they happen then. What tends to happen is most people in haunted places tend to experience them in bed because the most active time for paranormal activity is anywhere between 10p-6am. A lot of people say 3 (especially if you watch some lame ass fake paranormal show like Paranormal State) because it has something to do with the Trinity but truth is, I have more things happen around 4 than 3 and even early in the night so specific hours don't matter, but the "witching hours" no one really knows why it happens then, skeptics think because it has to do with our primative supersticious fear of the dark which could have something to do with it. I personally believe it has something to do with the moon's position to the earth that creates more energy allowing them to come through from their dimension or wherever they do come from.

And from the scientific stand point I must also say that there is some truth to some people that have been woken up by ghosts that it is just Sleep Paralysis, I myself have experienced something like the old hag syndrom, but that is not to dismiss anyone who has had them, because most of the sleep paralysis has to do with just that, waking up and not being able to move and thinking that something is holding you down and you hear talking because you're dreaming still despite being awake. I've had that happen to me as well, which is really scary, you don't know what's going on, even if you do know what's going on your mind always wonders.

reply

All of mine happened between 7:30 a.m. and 6 p.m., so your theory doesn't work on me.

I saw them in broad daylight, no sleep paralysis, no one talking. I SAW them, and in more than one case, with one ghost, had physical things happen in the room. During the day.

Don't take what I said as me trying to discredit you, I believe you. There are a ton of documented cases of paranormal activity that happen during the day. In fact, dogs and cats seem to have more occurances during the day than at night. I was just trying to answer why they seem to happen a lot while they are in bed, it's not always because they're having sleep paralysis, they're legit.

Maybe I'm a dog or a cat?

Not to be mean. I think sleep paralysis has a LOT to do with a lot of this stuff. Sorry if I lashed out.

I agree with you, MSStMarie. Lucid dreaming is most likely responsible for a lot of things that go bump in the night. I can't count how many times I have heard people say they saw a "ghost" upon waking up suddenly in the middle of the night. These "ghosts" are probably easily explained as hypnopompic and hypnagogic hallucinations. Same thing can be said for people who say they were woken up by someone yelling in their ear, or by someone saying their name can be explained as exploding head syndrome. Science is a wonderful thing, folks.

U cant feel someone in room unless u can see, hear, touch smell or taste him.
Idk what are u talking about what "feel" means in this context :)

If this ever happens to you, you will know what it means. Just because it's never happened to you, doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

Has anyone seen/remember the episode w/Kat & the Hag? I've gone through a similar but worse scenario for years, saw a psychiatrist, &they recommended a Shaman,& I could not find one in Southwest Ohio.
If anyone can help...

my personal belief is that when a person is asleep, they are more vulnerable, and more easily able to attack.

most activity is at night, so it would stand to reason that more people are asleep at night.

But like many others have said further down on these posts, all activity is not when they are sleeping or even at night.
