Money for cameras

He said they had no material ties but they sure did have alot of surfboards and cameras. How do they have so much film and pictures of themselves?

Actually I didn't see a tremendous amount of footage of them. (There was also stock footage used that was period-appropriate, so you really only have to look at shots of the family.)

Remember that there was also Doc's brother and sister, and they did visit (there are stories from cousins visiting, etc), so one would assume these other family members had cameras when visiting. There was also footage from news stories and publicity stills that were animated in the documentary.

As far as the surfboards.. well, if that's your one passion in life, that's where your money is going to go when you have any. (Someone once said you can tell the life a person leads by looking at their checkbook and their daytimer.)

I agree. After watching the movie, one of my first reactions was what a good job the film makers did with so little material to work with. A lot of the pictures are from the media and I suspect, relatives.
