But barring Han Solo and the Tan Tan ... I've never seen anything like that before in a movie and it was surprising.

I listened to the DVD Commentary where they said they received an R rating because of the scene where Pierce warms his hands in the dead man's chest.

Great stuff.

reply

The warming hands in the body thing is a reference to THE SAVAGE INNOCENTS where it's a dog they use, and I dunno bout the horse, a big one might do it, I read or heard somewhere about a guy who hid inside a dead buffalo for 3 days back in the wild west.

Bear Grylls slept inside a deer (or some other animal like it).

Yes!!! I remember this one!!

this is my big problem with the movie (ha even more so than the supernatural ending). yes its possible he could fit in the horse but he most likely would not be able to completely hide himself. and if he had been able to there is no way he would be able to barrel out of there that fast.

While it is possible, not enough entrails existed outside of the horse to give Gideon the room he needed; certainly not enough without being noticed.

For as good of mountain men, former military, good with weapons, and savvy as these guys were supposed to be in frontierisms, they were sloppy, foolish, and idiots.

Gideon wasn't trying to get away THAT badly and Carver was a terrible tracker and a lousy shot.

reply

I was thinking that possible he had also dug a hole and was partly in the ground.

reply

Ok I know this is an old post but yes, yes you could fit in there. I don't think you realize how big horses are. There are many stories from back then of people caught in cold weather and surviving by taking shelter inside of cattle, buffalo and horses.
