because 1 he just lets him run off and doesn't run but walks after him, 2 doesn't hold on to the leash, 3 lets him run off again and die instead of holding on the him, 4 has no reaction to the dog dieing, 5 doesn't really keep the promise to her about watching the dog, 6 was gonna use him as bait, and 7 when she did ask him to watch the dog he had to think about it.

I knew some moron would have to make a comment about how the dog wasn't important. Some people say dogs are too stupid to love, but I think the opposite. They're the embodiment of love and faithfulness. When you see them outside a shop waiting for their owner, all they live for is when they see them again, and when they do they're so happy. If it wasn't for the dog then Peter wouldn't have found Kate. I felt as sad for the dog as anybody else.
