I loved this film to bits but I cannot for the life of me work out why IMDB would call it a comedy. Some light hearted moments I guess but they weren't for comedic effect.

Largely promoted as a comedy but there's a Youtube trailer out there showing a different take--a story of 'first love'. Maybe sits too uncomfortably close to NAMBLA hence the 'comedy' classification.

I think their description of it is wrong as well. It's not really *about* him being gay. It certainly has more to do with poverty, injustice and corruption. Though there is still the romantic interest, I'd say it takes a backseat to those other themes.
