The most harrowing thing about this film was at the end

(SPOILERS)

For me, the hardest part to take, emotionally, was the scene at the end where the guy's father realizes that the captors will immediately assume that the escapees will be trying to reunited with their families. The father says something like, 'Wait a minute! You escaped? You escaped from these men who tortured and killed? Don't you know what that means? They will go after your family!'

So now these guys have escaped, but where can they go? They've got no money, no clothes. They can't go back to their families or friends, else risk putting them in danger.

Fortunately, they ultimately did manage to get out of the country, according to the notes in the epilogue.

But just imagine if the filmmakers had ended the film at that scene, where the family basically insists that the two guys get out of his car. The viewer would be left wondering what happened to these guys and to the father and his family.
