just saw it.... (SPOILERS)

honestly, this is one of those movies that is just too disturbing to even say if it is a good movie or not. i HATED the scenes with the bear being shot, the dog being shot, the kid being beated, and goldblum's scenes as a dog. imo, the movie could have been just as much as affective in the cruelty aspect by not showing the deaths of the animals, or the beating of the child. had i known these would have been images in the movie, i wouldnt have gone.

I agree. I watched it months ago, but I still remember I couldn't look straight into some of the scenes. Very well-acted but ironically made me wonder what was the point if you could barely look at it...

It was way more effective than any horror flick I can think of in terms of the shock value.

yeah i understand. i think also a movie is that much better if they dont need to include scenes like this, and could still get the point across.

How strange...

I am usually totally freaked out by movies where animals are killed, especially a dog but I did not react at all to this movie.

I thought Goldblum was excellent as the disturbed camp survivor but the movie itself seemed to move at a snail's pace and I found myself completely bored about 3/4 through. I wanted it to be better, especially because of the acting and the storyline but alas - it was not as I had hoped!

whobody- i would describe it as a art house holocaust film. it was a bit pretentious imo too.
