Never heard of the film until last week. Stern got a screener for it and it clearly disturbed Howard; he seemed really affected by it.
I really got excited about seeing it when Fred Norris mentioned that it is directed by Paul Schrader. No one does f'ed up like Schrader.
Really looking forward to it now that it is on my radar.
I heard it too. Does not sound like a "happy" movie, but it sure caught my interest.

Look, I'm all for self-defense & to be fair, "carb envy"(or whatever) totally had it coming. I'd just draw the line at attacking the people of an entire country, America or otherwise. Individuals? Sure. Governments? You bet... but why not focus the pointy tip of your retaliation against the person instead of diluting it over an entire population?

I did hear Howard speak about this movie, too. I don't know if I would have watched it, if it weren't for him. It is very difficult to watch, especially knowing the subject matter. Jeff Goldblum is so good; I've never been a huge fan of his, but he's perfect for this role. It made me so sad to watch this character have to degrade himself, in order to live. This particular movie, as far as I know, isn't based on a true story. But, I'm positive this self-degradation happened every day in these concentration camps; it makes you realize how lucky you are. How we can get up; eat; go about our day by our own choice. So many people couldn't, and didn't have the opportunity, after it was over. Very sad!
