Is there any evidence in the movie that I may have missed that indicates that William and Sandra ended up together? That seems to be an important piece of information. Or maybe it's supposed to be an open-ended matter for discussion in forums such as this one.

I don't see any evidence that Sandra ended up with anyone.

No, the woman he's with (presumably his wife) on the beach in the final scene of the film is listed as "Clara" in the full cast.
