Just my 2 cents worth on this film... Rather enjoyed it... =O)

Just to say...
... I really enjoyed this movie. It's obviously not got much in the way of a budget and comes across as a slightly arty, independent film... Of course, like other poster's have said - it's not exactly original, the acting is adequate - not exactly groundbreaking, but the story IS executed rather well - especially for Duncan Jones' first film (ok, it's a 'short' but anyway).
So, yeah, it's done pretty well for the start of Duncan's career. I thought it was fairly heavy with the melancholy emotion/s, which I personally find a good thing as I did think it was done well... Oh, one thing I couldn't help get out of my head; and this is entirely just to do with me[!] is that I kept expecting John Shrapnel to start rattling off his old St.Ivel Gold advert! (Cor, I'm going back over 20years there!)
Anyway, it was just my small thoughts on the film - I like, never post on here usually.
Also, I suppose I should mention that he has a rather decent collection of music to use for his films, after all, his dad IS David Bowie [né Jones] - this film uses Bowie's - Subterraneans, from the album, "Low").
So, yeah, you could see Duncan possibly had good things up ahead from this film. He followed it up with Moon (7 years later!) which I personally found to be a masterpiece, as I love the understated intelligent Sci-Fi angle(basically one man and his computer a lá Dave and Hal in 2001!).
After Moon came the so-so Source Code, which I think he found rather ambitious, given the plot holes in it. I'll also mention that Duncan himself said that Moon was a trilogy of sorts and that Source Code runs along the same time line as Moon (I think that's what he said!), and he also said he wanted to do another film with the character Sam Bell, perhaps a direct follow on, maybe even a prequel, to the film Moon. Myself, I hope so...
So yeah, that's it!
Ooh! Very lastly - the husband and wife team in Whistle! What a bitch she was! Very cold hearted. The acting between them at times felt a bit lop-sided... it felt like he either wasn't (re)acting enough to her, or she was over-acting and blowing up a bit too much! Seeing as it's DJ's first film, perhaps he didn't yet have the chops to direct properly and have the balls to ask for more/different takes, or just wasn't sure how it would appear in the final edit and just used the best take he had (and that take not fitting quite in).
Right, that's it, that's really my 2cents worth!
