*spoiler* So...how much blood DOES one guy have?

Did anyone else think Frank was a bit too liberal with his blood? I mean...after painting the girl and slicing his hand open several times, how'd he keep going? lol...

It's just a movie. A Sci-Fi channel movie actually. Hopefully you understand what I mean. ;D

Come on, he said he felt "stronger"! Obviously he was REGENERATING blood at a phenomenal rate.

I mean, a really phenomenal rate.

Actually, a person can lose about 15 pints of blood before they die, although they'd probably pass out well before then. But I don't think he lost all that much, really. I mean, you see people with really grievous gunshot wounds who walk away losing a lot more.

One way or another, I am willing to suspend disbelief if for no better reason than that really freaky scene where he painted that chick all over.

reply

Silly boy. An average person only has about 12 pints of blood. I would like to see someone lose 15 pints from injuries and still be alive.

reply

Hm. My dad lied to me, way back when when I was a little tyke.

Of course, he looked it up in an Army field medicine manual. So that's just another good reason not to trust the army, especially if you're leaking.

Painting someone with blood and all the bleeding i have seen so far (just past the body painting scene) would only need at most 1-2 pints, I used to cut and it doesn't take much blood loss to make one huge mess.

so this is it we are going to die

Don’t go trashing the Army now. First you said your dad lied to you, and then you say he was mistaken because he looked it up in some Army field manual. I was in the Army and I was never told anything as foolish as a human can bleed out up to 15 pints before they die. Just admit your mistakes and move on, no need to apologize and no need to blame others for your errors.

reply

Human body contains an average between 8-12 pints of blood depending on weight and size, so if you have 12 pints of blood and lose 4-5 pints, you can die without immediate treatment. But have some movie radiated mutant virus/disease float in your body, you can regenerate 1,000 pints of blood when you want, just like god mode in a video game.

but if that was the case (regeneration) why does he continue to bleed, i guess he would have to cut himself every few seconds if that were the case.

I just thought it was a cheesy explanation

but yes suspension of disbelief

reply

it wouldn't take that much blood to pass along the immunizing antibodies. Coating her with blood would only take a pint or so . Plus all the bleeding he's done he was probably only down 3-4 pints by the end of the film. Enough to make him lightheaded and dizzy but not enough to kill him. He was looking pretty ragged by the time he reached his father's corpse but that should be about right.

reply

Painting a girl, lol.
God I bet she was sticky and uncomfortable. If anyone has cut themselves (by which I mean accidentally or purposly, just so you don't think that I think everyone self harms, lol), and bled alot and then its dried, you know how icky it feels, now imagin that all over =| lol.

I don't know, I always liked that feeling. Might just be me though.

reply

yeah well, the virus apparently made him a lot stronger.. you can't really compare a science fiction movie to reality because the two just don't mix.

reply

A grown up man can have up to 6 liters of blood.
Althrough with loss of two liters he probably couldn't walk anymore.
Thought he does not loose more than half of a liter in the movie anyway.
