Took to much damage?

I wondered how he manages to take that much damage, from for instance the beating with the wooden thing and certainly from when the suits hit him with the car - twice.

Did the directors try to make a point here or was that just a movie-unreal beating..."Die Hard"-like?

I mean, I really loved this movie, but coulndt realy get over that part. Either is really was something supernatural or the movie made the same error of letting the "here" be able to take to much hits. And since this movie is a serious and thoughtful one, I wouldn't think that it's the last option.

What do you think? Howcome he could take all that beating?

he is special

yes

He BELIEVES that he's special and THAT keeps him going. Belief is very important. As the song goes "There can be a miracle if you believe..."

yeah, that's how i saw it too. he might have just come off the drug but his sense of self-doubt was still being suppressed and that's what allows him to get up (as at no point is strength one of his 'powers'). you can tell by the way that he shuffles off that he's must be pretty beaten up.

Mind over matter or psychosis..Ask anyone who deals with patients in mental hospitals psychotics can be virtually unstopable, like someone on pcp.
great film very funny :-)

You also see it with sports. People will often get hurt during a game, but not notice until after the game is over. Add heavy mind altering drugs into the mix, and what they show in the movie is fairly believable.

Blunt force trauma is not always lethal on impact.
But he probably never made it home.. internal bleeding is a female dog.

Great movie - and I was thinking about the "damage factor" as well. His suit was made of spray painted and sewn together padded biker leathers, also he had elbow and knee pads sewn into it; that could mitigate a lot of the self inflicted trauma, hitting the pavement, etc. Getting rolled twice by a Lincoln Conty though, he was hurting. Maybe the effects of the drug though might have helped - drunks often survive terrible falls and car accidents because their bodies are relaxed, and don't tense up.

Ever seen a guy on PCP take a beating? It doesn't even phase them.
I'm wondering what was beating him under the bridge though? Was it the suits or himself or something else?

and note the moments he was OFF the drug

he REALLY felt the pain that he had from the night before

so it across between adredile and belief

also another way of looking it

Drunk gets into a car crash, it normaly not the drunk that dies
something about the stiffness of the body.

there was a recurring theme of self importance.
(his boss having him repeat the mantra "i am important")

the suit having him repeat "i am a piece of *beep*

him repeating "you will never stop me"

it is mind over matter, and the recurring theme of him repeating something so much that he believes it is evident.

When the boss says that, he later becomes a "superhero"
when the suit makes him say that, he almost gives up until the last second.
And when he repeats his, he doesnt give up.

Also, in the beginning he is reading a comic and voice over "it would be great to be unstoppable". In the end he became a hero. That's the beautiful thing on it. Great movie.

Actually, the debate is whether or not he took TOO much damage.

When you say that he took "to" much damage, it's like saying that someone took to the streets with a cause: "She took to the streets in order to protest higher taxes."

It's not a typo. You did it twice. You just didn't know the difference, and now you do. You're welcome.
