Adrian should've been in it!!!

There was no need to kill off Adrian! She should of appeared in this film! What do you guys think?

reply

Nope. It worked quite well without her, and took the character in a new direction.

Whores will have their trinkets.

reply

Talia Shire didn't want to be in another one. That's it.

reply

I read the opposite - she was very willing but Stallone didn't think Rocky would want to fight if Adrian were still alive. Or that Adrian would even let him fight.

reply

She should "have" appeared in this film, is what you meant to say. Educate yourself on the English language.

reply

I thought the film was fine with no Adrian. Nothing against her or the valuable element she added to the previous movies. I assume Stallone wanted to avoid the whole "Rocky, please don't fight" element to the story line.

reply

Stallone said numerous early drafts of Rocky Balboa had Adrian alive and well. But as he went along he thought to himself that this seemed all to familiar. I'm sure it had scenes with Adrian pleading with Rocky not to fight again. I remember at the time Rocky Balboa came out, Stallone said one of the toughest things he ever had to do was call Talia Shire and tell her that Adrian wouldn't be back. But he said that she supported the decision after he gave his reasons why.

Should've is a contraction of should have. So the title is grammatically correct. Maybe you need to educate yourself on the English language.

Rex

When movie hell is full, re-makes shall walk the earth.

reply

Rex, beecore was referring to when the op wrote 'She should of appeared in the film.' Not the heading.

reply

Adrian's death was crucial to the storyline. If you think the movie could have worked as well with her still alive, you likely missed a great deal of the point of the movie. With her alive, Rocky would have had no motivation to fight again. At all.

Nailed it. With Adrian gone, that explains why Rocky seems so bummed out and lonely. He's lost Mickey, he's lost Apollo, he's lost Adrian and his son is distant. That's why he pursues a friendship with Marie and one last hurrah in the ring to purge his demons and feel alive again.

reply

I';m glad she was dead..for me one of the problems with Rocky V was the character of Adrian....she kept getting in the way and whined all the time...she just gave up and accepted the circumstances...she never even encouraged Rocky to get a second opinion...

reply

With Adrian still around I don't think Stallone could've successfully pulled off having Rocky box again.

reply

How do you know she didn’t encourage him for a second opinion? She coulda encouraged him off camera

reply

Her death they say was to create an emotional arc for Rocky but it also could've been down to a contractual dispute or didn't want to return it's unclear.

reply

Adrian was an annoying character in parts II, IV, and especially V. Marie was a far better character than Adrian would have been in this movie.

reply

Adrian gives one of the best speeches in the franchise in V. Her "win" in II is the highlight of the movie. WTF are you talking about?

reply

"Adrian gives one of the best speeches in the franchise in V."

Her speeches are one of the reasons she's annoying. Her speech in III was annoying too, but I didn't include III because at least she wasn't trying to prevent Rocky from fighting in that one.

"Her "win" in II is the highlight of the movie."

That was one of her more annoying moments too.

"WTF are you talking about?"

My post is written in standard English, so what I'm talking about is blatantly obvious.

reply

You are simply wrong. Look up those clips on youtube and read the comments.

reply

"You are simply wrong."

There's no such thing as being wrong about an opinion, so consider your non sequitur dismissed.

"Look up those clips on youtube and read the comments."

You think that comments on YouTube are going to convince me that Adrian doesn't annoy me in parts II through V? LOL at that.

reply

There is such a thing as a wrong opinion.

reply

"There is such a thing as a wrong opinion."

No, there isn't, and you've just established that you don't know the meaning of the word "opinion." You've also established that you're not the fastest car on the lot, since you're trying to tell me that Adrian doesn't annoy me in parts II through V, which is utterly laughable. I say that the character annoys me; you say that the character doesn't annoy me. I win that "argument" by default, obviously, since I'm the only one who's in a position to positively know what annoys me.

reply

tl;dr

You're getting worked up over nothing. No need to write essays on why you think you're right.

"You're getting worked up over nothing."

Your laughable attempt at a crystal ball reading is dismissed, Miss Cleo.

"No need to write essays on why you think you're right."

Your non sequitur is dismissed, and since you have exactly zero arguments, your tacit concession on the matter is noted. Also, LOL at you thinking four sentences is an "essay."

reply

Your mom.

reply

Your non sequitur is dismissed and your tacit concession on the matter remains noted. Also, since I don't allow simpletons who don't know how to argue to clutter up my notifications page with utterly worthless replies, you're now on ignore.

reply

it's hilarious how you try to sound smart by inserting "non sequitur" in every sentence.

reply

Nah, it worked for Rocky’s character and his journey to be all alone, and keep the focus on reconnecting with his distant son. I love Adrian but we didn’t need more ‘don’t fight Rocky’ from her.

reply

I hated that she wasn’t in it, and I could feel how much Rocky missed her, but that was the point. Everything he cared about was gone. All he had left was to try and fight again. If he still had Adrian, there would be no need to fight. Her absence was definitely felt, but it was needed.
