Angie wanting Rocky to buy her friends a round and Get a job scene.

I was really taken by Stallone's commentary on this scene on the dvd in regards to how the neighborhood had changed so much since Rocky and Paulie were in their 30s and were younger guys hanging out at the same bar in Rocky and how the neighborhood and people living in it had changed since then.

People no longer liked or cared about Rocky Balboa anymore and he didnt matter anymore to this generation, they didnt have the class or respect that Rocky's generation did, Angie and her circle of friends didnt care about Rocky or treat him with any respect at all, they just wanted to mooch off of him and get a free round of drinks from him, Angie gets angry when Rocky tells her not to be a fool for that guy meaning to be stupid for him.

Angie responds "A fool? I aint no fool, you got it twisted! You're the fool, you think that you're better than me? You aint no better than me, no better." and Stallone explains during the fight when she is watching him that she finally understands who Rocky is and what he is really all about, a fighter and someone that accomplishes things because he is determined to be who and what he wants to be and has the will to take all of the hits to get there.

Rocky is not better than Angie and her friends at all but he is different from them and how they are and Angie at least gets that point and understands what Rocky is all about and will be changed by this and improve herself in the future because she gets the message that he was sending out, She actually has the look of respect for Rocky after she watches the entire fight too, like he has proven his point and she knows this.

Also the scene where Little Marie is being called a pig and being messed with and that drunk guy starts insulting Rocky and makes threats and Rocky gets her inside of his van and says "No Little Marie it aint all right.", Stallone says that only an idiot with a death wish and no common sense would tell a former two time world Boxing champion that he is going to kick his ass if he comes back around her again like that guy does.

So Rocky handles the deadbeat that was trying to pimp his friend out to ask for Rocky to buy them all a round of drinks and disrespect Rocky after he blows them off and refuses to, Rocky walks up to the guy and grabs him and threatens him back and just forces the guy to apologize to Little Marie, thats really all that Rocky wants from this guy, an apology, he doesnt require beating the guy to a pulp because he can easily, he is above that crap, he just wants the guy to back off and say hes sorry because he doesnt need to beat anyone else up to elevate himself above them.

Rocky has so much class that he defends Little Marie and forces the guy to apologize to her because ever since Adrian died he hasnt been able to do anything gallant for a woman at all, he then tells the guy simply "Get a job!" meaning quit being and acting like a bum and go out and work for a living instead of messing with people in bars and mooching off of others, that guy does not learn his lesson because he says in the bar before the fight with Rocky and Mason Dixon happens "I hope that he gets his head busted open." and Angie just tells him to shut up and is affected by Rocky doing well.

Angie learned what Rocky was all about at heart just from meeting Rocky once and watching him fight with courage and determination, the deadbeat guy does not, he remains the same, such a waste, that guy was a sad fool and Rocky handled him well by not bashing his head in.

I don't remember this particular scene, and I've seen the film 100 times at least.

It happens right before the final fight in Las Vegas, they are introducing Rocky and Mason and it shows the bar with Angie there along with the guy and a crowd of people, Angie is sitting at the bar and the guys says "I hope he gets his head busted open." and she just looks at him and tells him to shut up, the fight starts shortly after that.

Even after the fight ends it shows Angie in the bar and she gets up after the results are announced, she looks like she understands and respects Rocky now, she knows what Rocky is all about and that he is not better than her but just different from her, Stallone says this in the commentary, and she will be affected by his example in the future.

My apologies, sir. It has actually been awhile since I'be seen it.

LOL! How could you have seen the movie 100 times and missed this?

You really laughed out loud at that?

Anyway, read my follow-up message (though you probably already did)

I will need to listen to the DVD commentary. It's an interesting analysis, though I think that neighborhood was likely the same, but different, and since Rocky/Stallone got older he didn't realize it as much. I'm a firm believer in the saying "the more things change, the more they stay the same". I mean people disrespected Rocky in the first film back in 1975 too, he was a bum and barely acknowleged as a fighter. If some boxer from the 1940s was hanging around in the 1970s, he probably would have been treated the way Rocky was in this film. Even if it was Rocky Marciano.

I'll reference another movie, The Breakfast Club, when the principal complains about teenagers in the mid 80s, and the janitor tells him the kids haven't changed, it was the principal that changed, he got older and matured and turned into a different person then when he was 16.
