i have a confusion: in the very first shot, we see philip coming out of the house (right before the bumping into the car)

1- was he going to murder her?
2- if yes, where was his revolver? he wasn't carrying it.... can someone help?

Yes.He had to cross the road to get his gun.Maybe only sort of a spoiler, but you never know what sort of effect it might have.

As others have stated he was going to get the gun to shoot her.

Ironic, he was going to shoot her for having sex with another man, then he gets paralyzed so that he can never have intercourse with her again, and he has to endure the rest of his life sanctioning her having sex with other men.

Seems kind of like "hell".
