Gang brutality is still an issue today in South Central L.A. It just so happens that the media doesn't report on it, because who cares about the people in those communities. Plus, half of the reporters are probably scared to enter Compton or Watts.

The film is about today. It gave the history for the first 20 minutes or so, and then the rest of the movie is about today.

no its not about today, this thing is about 15 years too late, it might have been cutting edge in 89-92 era now its just outdated and sad, plays into people's stereotypes of LA gangs. now its all about latino gangs killing black gangs etc to run them out of neighborhoods and sure up the drug trade. that would be a much more interesting documentary and a topic rarely covered outside of LA
