Not Great

for a full length documentary, it doesnt really focus on very much about the origins of the gangs, the structure of the gangs, the activities of the gangs, or the community and government responses of the gangs. It mostly looks at a lot of anecdotal evidence, that while likely a major part of the cause, doesnt add a lot to our(rest of America) understanding of the situation.

For a much better take, I would recomend the 20 minute final segment on History Channels "The History of Gangs in America" which is far more informative about the origins of, structure of, and response to the Bloods and Crips than this hour and a half long documentary.

I agree the film seemed to loose focus and change direction often. It really covered the bloods/crips only briefly.

i was a bit dissapointed that it didnt focus that much on the bloods and the crips. o, well.

You can't swing a dead cat in hollywood without hitting someone with a vampire script

I watched this all the way through and still know next to nothing about either the Crips or the Bloods.

Are they involved in organised crime? Do they sell drugs? What are their disagreements about? Have their been any prosecutions for conspiracy? Are there any connections to gangs in other cities? How do the women get treated? What does their "code" tell them about how they must behave? How young do they start?

None of these questions were asked or answered in this film.
It was like leafing through a fashion magazine in a "gangsta chic" special edition.

Yeah, it did have some interesting information so not a total waste of time, but it didn't really tell me what I wanted to know when I put it on.
